About the Author

Candice Landau has been reading fantasy novels ever since she can remember. Before Harry Potter was “the thing” for children with a British cultural heritage, Enid Blyton dominated the world of fantasy and imagination.

Born in the suburbs of Johannesburg, South Africa, Candice spent her early childhood years swimming, playing fantasy games in the garden—dressing her sister as a detective dog and colonizing new worlds tucked away in garden bushes—oh and reading Enid Blyton’s books. To this day, the Magic Faraway Tree series still evokes that same sense of wonder. Today, Candice lives in Eugene, Oregon.

Other books and series that have touched her imagination and influenced her own writing, include: Howl’s Moving Castle and the Chrestomanci series by Diana Wynne Jones, the Wind on Fire trilogy by William Nicholson, Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer, Harry Potter—of course, Sabriel by Garth Nix, The Phantom Tolbooth by Norton Juster, and Phillip Pullman’s His Dark Materials trilogy.

This website is intended to serve as the ultimate resource for anyone embarking on the journey of writing their own young adult’s fantasy novel. If there’s something you’d love to learn more about, or read about, get in touch!
